Los Angeles Clean Tech 2011 Calendar – October

Welcome to the October 2011 Clean/Green Tech Events Calendar.  Busy month ahead.  Go on out and participate!

Sept 25 – eCarFest – an expo of electric vehicle car technology and innovation, Electric Lodge, Venice, noon – 5:00 PM

Sept 26-27 – 4th Annual Renewable Energy Finance Forum brings together the financiers and operators to review current state of project financing, venture capital, renewable power generation, emerging commercial technologies, financing smaller projects, equity financing and established technologies.  Covering a range of renewable and clean energy technologies and focused on developments in the Western US. Four Seasons Hotel, San Francisco.

Sept 27 – 7th Germany California Solar Day – UCLA and German American Chamber of Commerce present the 7th installment of a bilateral platform to for German and US experts to exchange ideas, knowledge and trends in the solar industry.  At UCLA Institute for the Environment, 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Sept 28 – 30 – Montreux Energy’s 7th annual California Clean Energy Roundtable continues as an invitation-only, interactive stakeholder workshop featuring many recognized experts, thought leaders and stakeholders from industry, government, academia, research and investment to discuss the future of clean, low-carbon power and transportation in California.

Sept 30 – AltCar Expo and Conference – an exhibition of alternative vehicle technologies, transportation innovations, alternative fuels, infrastructure, energy efficiency and urban planning.  Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, free admission – 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Oct 4 – How to Increase Innovation – Clean Technology Council 1st Tuesday event – will feature Kiho Sohn, President of Sohn Consulting, who has developed a knowledge base of effective innovation.  He will conduct a hands-on workshop built upon TRIZ – a process incorporating a Russian Theory of Inventive Problem Solving.  Westlake Village, SoCal IP Law Group offices, 6:00 PM – 8:00PM. 

Oct 7 – 9 – The New World Festival of Eco-Friendly Science & Technology (World F.E.S.T)  – a celebration of eco-friendliness, innovation and forward-thinking about all things green, clean and sustainable.  Exhibits, speakers, marketplace, product demos, family and kids oriented, sustainable art, cooking, renewables, recycling and much more.  On the beaches of Santa Monica – noon to dusk.

Oct 11 – 12 – Local clean tech social  marketplace OnGreen presents Accelerate Global Cleantech Conference at the California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park.  This inaugural conference connects clean technology executives, innovators, entrepreneurs, policy makers and investors to explore concepts, trends and economy of the rapidly expanding clean tech movement.

Oct 11 – California’s Energy Future – a hosted event by Alston & Bird at the City Club in Downtown Los Angeles will examine green house gas reductions, distributed power generation and renewable energy trends.   4:30 PM – 8:00 PM

Oct 11 – Opening of the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator – the anchor of the Cleantech Corridor just east of Downtown Los Angeles will have their official opening.   This event will be hosted in the temporary location as the new Le Kretz Innovation Campus is under construction.   The LACI is a joint product of the Community Redevelopment Agency and the Department of Water & Power and will offer coaching, space, commercialization help and networking for cleantech start-ups.  RSVP here.  6:00 PM – 9:00 PM.

Oct 11 – Meet the VC event – Los Angeles Venture Association evening event at the Annenberg Community Beach House in Santa Monica – 7:30 PM – 10:00 PM.  Registration required.

Oct 13 – Resnick Institute of Caltech presents the Southern California Smart Grid Research Symposium – a collaborative event for faculty, staff, students and professionals to learn about the technology, policy and implementation challenges of integrating renewable power generation into the power grid.  Caltech, Beckman Auditorium, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Oct 15 – 19 – The Water Environment Federation presents the 84th Annual Technical Exposition and Conference – the world’s largest water quality event.  Thousands of water and wastewater professionals attend WEFTEC to learn, network and examine new products and services – Los Angeles Convention Center. 

Oct 17 – 21 – Los Angeles Tech Week – 10th annual technology conferences and meetings for the businesses, entrepreneurs, government, academics and the public of greater Los Angeles area to learn about recent trends and developments in an array of innovative technologies.  This year’s events will include panels on social media marketing, tablets and smart phone apps, technology transfer and licensing, trends in funding technology companies, and the secrets of success for startup companies.

Oct 17 – 20 – Solar Power International 11 will host 20,000+ solar energy professionals, engineers, executives, government, utilities, entrepreneurs and 1,200 exhibitors in Dallas for the largest domestic conference focused on solar energy business.

Oct 17 – 18 – The Global Cleantech 100 Summit & Gala presents the 100 cleantech start-ups most likely to have a significant technical, economic or social impacts over the next decade.  Entrepreneurs, government policy makers, executives and investors working to build the cleantech future.  Washington, DC.

Oct 17 – 19 – for the first time the Green California Community College Summit and Green California Schools Summit will meet concurrently.  The combined Expo will feature educators, government and sponsor presentations to examine innovations in technology policy and practice in California K-12 schools (6,000,000 students in 9,900 schools) and the largest post secondary education network in the US (2,900,000 students on 112 campuses).  Pasadena Convention Center. 

Oct 21 – Green LAVA monthly meeting – generously hosted by Marcum Stonefield, Century City.  Registration required at LAVA website.  7:00 AM – 9:00 AM.

Oct 24 – 27 – LEDs 2011 Bringing Lighting to Life – IntertechPira’s 12th Annual conference examines the trends, suppliers, innovators,  technologies, applications and markets for LED lighting.  Hilton San Diego Resort, Mission Bay.

Oct 26 – eMobility – the Future of the Automobile – a symposium held in Los Angeles and in San Francisco, will connect the local electric vehicle industry, universities, government, utilities, research and development, and communities with some of the thought leaders from Germany.  W Hotel, Westwood, 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM.

Oct  29 -30 – Los Angeles Green Festival – the 10th anniversary of the Green Festival will bring together people and businesses, a green marketplace featuring sustainable products and services.  Los Angeles Convention Center.
