Los Angeles Clean Tech Calendar 2012 – March

Welcome to the March 2012 Clean Tech Calendar.  This Calendar is provided by Green LAVA – the Strategic Interest Group of the Los Angeles Venture Association dedicated to exploring and explaining regional clean and green technology, business and trends.

Feb 24 – Southern California Green Jobs Fair for students from local universities and colleges presented by BGreen Consulting, an environmental group at UCLA.  11AM – 3PM, Ackerman Student Union, UCLA

Feb 27-29,  ARPA-E Energy Innovation Conference, is designed to bring together key players from across the energy ecosystem – researchers, entrepreneurs, investors, corporate executives, and government officials – to share ideas for developing and deploying the next generation of clean energy technologies. The Summit’s unique combination of leaders makes it the perfect forum for developing energy solutions that will enable America to out-innovate our global competitors.  Gaylord National Hotel & Convention Center, Washington, DC

Feb 28 – Working with Utility Companies: The Who, What and How of Energy Efficiency  This Technology Resource Incubator Outreach (TRIO) program gives attendees the opportunity to understand how to work with utility companies for advancement and implementation of energy efficiency and demand response technology in the electricity and gas markets.  This event is hosted by Southern California Gas, who will bring a special focus on gas technologies, while colleagues from the electric utilities will continue their discussion of electrical energy efficiency (EE) and demand response (DR).  SoCalGas Energy Resource Center, Downey, 7:30AM – 6:30PM

Feb 29 – Fourth Smart Grid Industry Partners Program –  This event is meant for utilities interested in the campus living lab smart grid demonstration, Smart Grid technology providers who can participate and contribute, regulators and policy makers who are interested in seeing what’s possible, government entities such as DOE labs who have created substantial technologies in the Smart Grid, standards organizations, etc. UCLA, Los Angeles

Feb 29 – SMERC Tutorial and Demo – EV, DR and Microgrids The rapid increase in electric vehicles plugging into the electric grid coupled with the introduction of wind and solar energy resources into the grid has resulted in an unprecedented need for the power grid to be modernized. Smart Grid technologies being developed by research labs, university, startups, utilities and enterprises are advancing the power grid at a rapid rate. UCLA, Los Angeles

Mar 6 – A Gasoline Guy Comes Clean/Inside the Oil business is the First Tuesday conference for March from the Clean Technology Council.  The evenings event will feature Mark Kanitra, President of Kanitra Marketing,  who will share 30 years of petroleum industry insights and experience with infrastructure within America’s largest gasoline market – southern California. 6:00 PM,  SoCalIP Law Group, Westlake Village.

Mar 7 – Solar Leadership Summit – The 4th Annual 2012 Solar Leadership Summit generates market based solutions by identifying specific pathways to accelerate local residential and commercial solar markets despite the paralysis in Washington D.C. and weak national mandates.  Hayes Mansion, San Jose, CA.

Mar 7-9 – IE Expo 2012 – Over 700 exhitors and 40,000 sqm of exhibition space, IE Expo will become an environment technology exhibition with largest scale and highest degree of internationalization in China.  IE Expo 2012 is an optimal platform for exhibitors to showcase new products and state-of-the-art technologies, search for environmental solutions, tap into Asian market and get hands on latest information in the industry.  Shanghai, New International Expo Centre

Mar 14-16 – GLOBE 2012 will offer a bold agenda in response to unprecedented developments in global environmental business policy and practice. Centered around eight major themes/sub-themes, conference sessions will be dynamic panels where experts and audience get to react and interact on the most pressing issues. Mar 14-15 – Good Jobs Green Jobs West – Now in its fifth year, the Conference will hold regional conferences throughout the country in 2012. Mar 26-28 – Cleantech Forum  For the 10th year in a row, Cleantech Forum San Francisco draws cleantech innovators, top venture capitalists and investors, corporate leaders and policy-makers from around the world. This year’s agenda  features unique speakers  examining the theme of strategic partnerships in clean technology.  Hyatt Regency, San Francisco.

March 28 – UCLA Smart Grid Thought Leadership Forum  With the rapid deployment of smart meters across the country, a highly granular electricity monitoring network that monitors consumption at the customer premises is now starting to become available to utilities. Networked smart meters are allowing utilities to monitor the last mile of the grid at a level of detail – in space and time – that has never been possible before. Such a fine-grained monitoring capability is enabling the creation of a much larger network within the grid than previously possible.  UCLA, Los Angeles.

Mar 28 – Electric Vehicle Integration and Deployment Into the Smart Grid of the Future – G2V & V2G  Recent advances in information and communications systems and battery technologies, in combination with substantial importance given by society to reducing greenhouse gas/carbon emissions, have resulted in dramatic thrusts towards accelerated innovations in electric vehicles (EVs) and the smart and renewable energy infrastructure necessary to fuel and support them.  UCLA, Los Angeles
