LAVA SIG Alert – July 2012

Whereas June was a very busy month with the Los Angeles Venture Association’s annual Investment Capital Conference and all 5 Strategic Interest Groups holding events, July has only a few events for the calendar. 

July 6GlobaLAVA–  The economic potential of Brazil, Russia, India and China is such that they could become the four most dominant economies by the year 2050. These are the countries that have changed their political systems to embrace global capitalism. But what is really going on inside these economies? In our overconnected world, how  are affecting the economy here in the U.S.? What are the new opportunities and challenges for Southern California investors and entrepreneurs looking for partners and customers in BRIC?

July 10LAVA Annual Meeting and a Special Program:  Mobile Ecosystem of Southern California and Beyond.  The 27th Annual Meeting of the Los Angeles Venture Association is going to be hot!  A great networking opportunity; early stage mobile companies exhibiting their services and apps; the public introduction of original research into the scope and scale of opportunities, mobile marketing and the impact on Southern California’s entrepreneurial community; an incredible panel offering their unique perspectives on the mobile market space, technology, economics and impacts: past, present and future.  The event is being produced by LAVA Mobile.

Richard Koffler, CEO, Koffler Ventures, serial entrepreneur, Past LAVA President will emcee the event.

July 20Green LAVA – the first SIG has invited Fred Walti, Executive Director of the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) and some of LACI’s clients to come and present their products and services.  LACI is the downtown hub of the City’s cleantech initiatives.  

Pre-registration is required.  This event will be at the Century Plaza Towers at 7:00 AM.

The Los Angeles Venture Association programs and Significant Interest Group events are open to members, guests and the general public.  Since 1985 the Los Angeles Venture Association has been providing forums where entrepreneurs and executives of middle-market companies actively meet and learn from fellow executives, investors, bankers, financial advisors and other providers of professional services.
