Welcome to the November 2012 Clean Tech Calendar of events for southern California.  This Calendar is provided by Green LAVA – the Strategic Interest Group of the Los Angeles Venture Association dedicated to exploring and explaining regional clean and green technology, business and trends.

Oct 23 –  “The Economics of Green” Long Beach Success Stories – Green Business Council Event hosted by the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce will feature Keynote Speaker Christopher Guith, Vice President for Policy Institute of 21st Century Energy, U.S. Chamber of Commerce.  Hyatt Regency, Long Beach – 7:30 – 10:00 AM.

Oct 26 – Southern California Israeli Chamber of Commerce introduces 18 Israeli Clean Tech Companies – The Mark, Los Angeles.

Oct 30 – 31 – 10th Annual Biopower Generation Conference – After a period of slower growth, momentum in the US biomass power industry is gathering again. Despite challenges including federal cuts and questions over emissions and sustainability, new large scale projects are breaking ground, coal plants are being retrofitted and once idle facilities are being regenerated.  State Renewable Portfolio Standards remain a key driver for the future of the sector.  Parc 55 Hotel, San Francisco.

Nov 1 – BREATHE California of Los Angeles County (BREATHE LA) 5th annual Green Salon Series SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA:  INTERNATIONAL HUB OF GREEN TECHNOLOGIES focuses on fostering environmental and economical sustainability: Green Industries/Green Jobs.  Expert panel discussion with robust Q&A to survey outstanding innovations that contribute to a more helpful and sustainable environment, including a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.  The California Endowment, Downtown Los Angeles.

Nov 7 – Clean Technology Council presents “How to Grow your Business in Tough Economic Times” and features keynote speaker Ken Norland-CEO of Tech Strategies, LLC., an authority on business growth.  Ken’s organization helped create 67,098 new jobs in 2011.  He will present practical, break though strategies for funding, business planning and staffing.  Westlake Village, 6:00 PM

Nov 12 – 13 – VERGE San Francisco  brings together business innovators, entrepreneurs, and leading public officials to illuminate the opportunities for radical efficiencies created through technology advancements in energy, buildings and transportation.  The InterContinental, San Francisco.

Nov 13 – PortTechLA Forum will introduce and feature a presentation from Total Transportation Services, Inc. (TTSI) a pioneer in clean technology transportation solutions. TTSI is a leader in the development and deployment of large zero emission vehicles. Los Angeles Harbor College, 10 AM – noon.

Nov 14 – 16 – Greenbuild 2012 – conference and expo is an unparalleled opportunity to connect with other green building peers, industry experts, and influential leaders as they share insights on the green building movement and its diverse specialties. Greenbuild includes over 100 educational sessions featuring world renown speakers, LEED workshops, off-site educational sessions and Green Building tours.  Moscone Center, San Francisco.

Nov 16 – 18 –  The Cleanweb Hackathon is an upcoming gathering to demonstrate the impact of applying information technology to resource constraints. Join us November 16-18 in Los Angeles as we bring together developers, designers, students and business professionals dedicated to optimizing resource use and accelerating cleantech development. Participants are tasked with building applications that tackle energy, waste, water, and other sustainability issues by leveraging web and mobile technologies.  USC, Los Angeles.

Nov 17 – 18 – The Los Angeles Green Festival – the nation’s largest and most diverse sustainability event offers the largest, most diverse and most trusted place for learning, shopping and having fun! Featuring an organic food court; an environmental film installation presented by the Sierra Club; hands-on DIY workshops; organic vegan and vegetarian cooking demonstrations; an organic beer and wine garden; live music; and, an incredible Green Marketplace for all of your holiday shopping needs, featuring products and services from local, regional and national green and sustainable businesses and organizations.  Los Angeles Convention Center.

Nov 27 – 28 – Always On Going Green cutting-edge green tech CEOs meet the movers and shakers from the biggest industries on earth. Green technology innovators are transforming the global energy, water, agriculture, transportation, construction, manufacturing, and resource recovery establishments. Golden Gate Club, San Francisco.

Nov 30 – First Annual CleanTECH San Diego International Showcase. As part of our Showcase series, the International Showcase will demonstrate clean technology opportunities abroad that are of significance to the region while promoting export/import opportunities, joint ventures and market expansion.  Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace & Justice, University of San Diego, 4:00 – 8:00 PM
