Final Days to Register for Los Angeles SBIR Workshop

Department_of_Commerce_LOGOPortTech Los Angeles will be hosting a SBIR Phase 1 Workshop in their training facility, April 23rd, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM.  Entrepreneurs, inventors, university researchers and small businesses seeking supplemental financing to bring their innovative products or services from concept and into development are encouraged to apply for funding.  This Workshop is designed to provide grant applicants with the means and strategies to successfully complete, submit and win Phase 1 contracts from the Federal agencies that participate in the SBIR/STTR program.

The Workshop is presented by Marie Talnack, PhD, a recognized expert in grant preparation and solicitation practices.  Marie Talnack’s career in technology transfer and business development has spanned the entire history of SBIR and STTR programs.    She has worked at four research universities and two national research laboratories as well as her own consulting firm established in 1991.  Working with more than 300 companies, she has assisted in the development of over 500 technical proposals and grants which have been leveraged into $60 million in private capital funding. She is a winner of the SBA and National Science Foundation’s Tibbetts SBIR Advocate of the Year award and holds a Doctorate in Science and Technology Policy from the University of Southern California, MBA in Finance and Marketing, and Masters in International Management.

The Workshop will provide:

The cost of the workshop is $89 for individuals or $149 for a company (up to 3 participants).  Each participant receives a workbook covering the major areas of emphasis for applicants.  Refreshments and lunch are included.

The PortTech Los Angeles Training Center is located at 302 W. 5th Street, Ste 203, San Pedro, CA.  90731.  Space is limited to 10 companies to maintain a high level of personal attention to the individual needs of the participants.  Advanced Registration is required to participate:  Registration for SBIR Workshop – Apr 23
