PortTech Forum – Ingenious Clean Tech Solutions for Dirty Situations

PortTech EXPO.pngThe next PortTech Forum at Los Angeles Harbor College will be June 11, 2013 at 10AM – noon.  The event will feature presentations by Antea Group’s Phil Gilchrist, Subra Iyer of Nrgtek, BrandZing’s Rick Plumley presents “Building Your Brand’s Recognition, Value & Equity Online”  and the usual announcements and great networking.

Phil will be talking about the Group’s patented ECO-SVE –  Enhanced Concentrating Oxygen Soil Vapor Extraction system that effectively and safely treats polluted and compromised soil and groundwater through a recirculating process that doesn’t produce any atmospheric emissions.  ECO-SVE is a tested and proven technology used to successfully clean chemically impacted sites.  The system is currently being used at several gas stations here in Southern California.

Nrgtek, a PortTech Client, will give us an update on their siloxane sequestration system for the Ventura Regional Sanitation District.  Siloxane is present in gases emitted from landfills as a byproduct of decomposition.  When the methane is burned off, the siloxane in the gas mixture are fed to generators where it reacts with Oxygen and creates a grit that harms heat exchangers, turbines, engines and other parts of the generators.  The common treatment is to filter the siloxane with an activated carbon method that is expensive and requires constant replenishment.  Nrgtek’s filtering system reduces the siloxane in the gas from 40 ppm to about 1 ppm – extending the life of the carbon filters and reducing damage to critical generator parts at a fraction of the cost of other treatment solutions.
