This Calendar is provided by Green LAVA – the Strategic Interest Group of the Los Angeles Venture Association dedicated to exploring and explaining regional clean and green technology, business and trends. June 20 – SBIR Phase II Workshop – Next in a series of SBIR/STTR Workshops for university researchers, small business owners and entrepreneurs applying for government grants from the 11 Federal Agencies participating in the  Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Tech Transfer Research programs.  The Agencies participating in the program that grants over $2B annually include:  Agriculture, Commerce (NOAA and NIST), Defense, Education, Energy, EPA, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, NASA, NSF and Transportation.  PortTech Los Angeles Training Center, San Pedro

June 23 – 27 – The California Higher Education Sustainability Conference highlights cutting-edge research, as well as case studies with proven successes in curriculum development, operational programs, and community partnerships. July 17 – Clean Technology Council presents Ron Pretlac, Founder & CEO, GreenTech Motors talking about Beyond Energy Efficiency and hosting a Summit & Wine Tasting Mixer. Meet  and  learn how Ron turned GreenTech Motors into a vital energy enterprise by tapping into aerospace innovation and engineering assets to deliver best-in-class commercial cleantech electric motors and power generation systems. July 25 – The Union of Concerned Scientists hosts Science, Democracy and Community Decisions on Fracking, a Lewis M. Branscomb Forum. The forum will convene leading thinkers from academia, industry, government, non-governmental organizations, and citizen groups to delve into some of the most complex challenges around hydraulic fracturing, centered on the following themes: the current state of the science and knowledge gaps; the current policy and regulatory landscape; and, public access to information and civic engagement. July 31 – 4th Annual PortTech Clean Tech Pitch Competition kick-off and orientation session welcomes this year’s competitors.   The Pitch Competition will feature the most innovative entrepreneurs and their clean technology products, services, systems and platforms from all over the US.   Competitors should apply in advance.  There is no charge to participate.  PortTech Training Center, San Pedro, 10 AM
