Los Angeles Cleantech Calendar 2014 – January and February

Green LAVAWelcome to the January & February 2014 Clean Tech Calendar of events for southern California.  There will be many local clean tech events this year worth attending.  Check back periodically to updates and monthly postings of the calendar!  The domestic conference season will start up in earnest in the spring, but for now, these are the events that merit your consideration:  Green LAVA and Clean Technology Council launch their programs this week and Verde Xchange is a must see event at the end of January.  The Cleantech Innovation Summit in February is a great conference and well worth attending.

Jan 14 – 16 – Electric Energy Storage conference provides the best technological and financial case studies to help the participants in staying abreast with regulatory updates. The program aims to bring together stakeholders, academia, and government to explore and determine increased reliability, performance, and competitiveness of storage systems.  Westin, San Diego

Jan 15 – Green LAVA is kicking off 2014 with a panel focused on funding clean tech start-ups. We’ve invited an Investment Banker (Kurt Fuess, CB Capital Partners), an entrepreneur (Darren Eng, Greenbelt Resources who will moderate), an incubator manager (Ian Gardner of LACI and Stan Tomsic of PortTech) and a couple of special guests (Jesse Torres of SBDC) to inform and enlighten.  The program is hosted by the Metropolitan Water District and will be held in their HQ, downtown LA, 1:00 – 3:00 PM

Jan 15 – Clean Technology Council presents “Engine Performance Breakthrough” and features Worfgang Bullmer, CEO of Transonic Combustion. Wolfgang will explain how his company has changed future engine design.  RSVP at the link –  Total Wine Conference Room, Thousand Oaks, 5:30 – 7:30 PM

Jan 19 – 24 – The 2014 Gordon Conference on “Renewable Energy: Solar Fuels” will explore new ideas and progress in the problem of generating chemical fuels from water and other renewable feedstocks using sunlight as the energy source. The Conference will cover topics ranging from advances in understanding natural photosynthetic and enzymatic processes to synthetic model systems for artificial photosynthesis, nanomaterial-based approaches, and system concepts based on semi-synthetic organisms and solar thermal/chemical conversion. Jan 21 – Young Professionals in Energy is holding a mixer/happy hour at Public School 612, Downtown LA from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.

Jan 21 – 22 – Cleantech Group presents “Buildings Get a Brain.”  Today’s commercial buildings are undergoing a revolution as a convergence of policy, technology innovation, and market dynamics drive a new appetite for smart, resource-efficient facilities.
