Mar 3 – Deadline to enter 2014 National Clean Energy Business Plan Competition via First Look West (FLoW).  Now in its 3rd year, this competition builds on the successful collaborative model of First Look LA to bring universities into the FLoW consortium and in turn support entrepreneurial clean energy activities throughout the seven-state, two territory region.  FLoW draws on a record of successfully engaging the triumvirate of faculty, student groups and investors in driving forward the transformation of university innovation into new ventures.  Applications online at link.

Mar 4 – 5 – GRA and USCID present Groundwater Issues and Water Management:  Strategies Addressing Sustainability and Drought.  The last few decades have seen mounting water management challenges, particularly those associated with increased reliance on groundwater resources throughout the West. This growing reliance on groundwater is due largely to the expansion of permanent crops, more intensive irrigation practices, increased urban and environmental competition for water supplies, and reduced surface-water supplies due to drought and increasing regulatory restrictions.  Lions Gate Hotel, Sacramento

Mar 10 – 14 – The American Water Works Association in conjunction with the American Membrane Technology Association hosts Membrane Technology Conference and Exposition.  This joint conference and exposition will showcase membrane technology that enhance water reliability and water quality while revealing new directions in water treatment technologies and wastewater membrane bioreactor applications. Mar 11 – 13 – Annual Cleantech Forum San Francisco – This annual gathering of the global cleantech innovation community offers a comprehensive, multi-day development program along with exclusive opportunities to network, socialize, and get deals done.  Fairmont San Francisco

Mar 17 – 20 – The 24th Annual International Conference on Soil, Water, Energy and Air presented by the Association for Environmental Health and Sciences Foundation.   For the past twenty-three years, this annual conference has helped to bring the environmental science community closer together by providing a forum to facilitate the exchange of information of technological advances, new scientific achievements, and the effectiveness of standing environmental regulation programs.  Marriott Mission Valley, San Diego

Mar 18 – One day SBIR/STTR Phase II Workshop – This workshop, presented by Tibbetts Award Advocate Dr. Marie Talnack, will provide you with the tools, techniques, plans and deliverables to meet the proposal requirements and the best practices to maximize your chance of winning an award. Mar 19 – Green LAVA in conjunction with Metropolitan Water District of Southern California reviews cleantech events and competitions with emphasis on the Cleantech Open – the annual accelerator program that draws cleantech entrepreneurs and start-ups from all over the US and recently expanded to global competition.  The program will feature CTO representatives, entrepreneurs who have participated in these events and examine the benefits from the time and effort needed to successfully compete.   Metropolitan Water District Headquaters, Downtown Los Angeles, 1:00 – 3:00 PM
