Welcome to the June 2014 Cleantech Calendar of events of interest to entrepreneurs, start-up executives, service providers, investors and community leaders around southern California.  These are the events that should be of interest to our cleantech community – alternative fuels, water, the grid, investment, student science, solar, LEAN methods to name a few . Check back periodically for updates. There are some good events left to come in May so check them out. Must attend local events this week include Green LAVA’s event on Bringing Cleantech to Market, May 20th at the BTC; Clean Technology Council on the future of alternative fuels for cars and the Council of Supply Management Professionals Lean Leadership.

May 19 – 22 – The 2nd SunShot Challenge – this DoE sponsored conference will bring together more than 800 members of the solar energy community to celebrate the achievements of the industry thus far, including 60% progress towards the 2020 SunShot affordability goal, and to identify strategies to overcome the grand challenges ahead.  Hilton Anaheim

May 20 – Green LAVA hosts a panel discussion on Bringing Cleantech to Market  featuring Greentech Motors, GoTek Energy and Transient Plasma Systems – leading developers of advanced engine, combustion and ignition technology.  The event will focus on the value of strategic partnerships, collaboration and things start-ups need to focus on as they commercialize green technology.  Business Technology Center, Altadena, 1 – 3:30 PM.

May 20 – 23 – The Microgrid Global Summit is intended for professionals at utility organizations of all varieties who wish to meet the microgrid opportunity head-on. This includes investor owned, municipal, and co-op energy providers in major metropolitan areas around the world as well as in rural and remote / off-grid environments. The discussions will also be particularly relevant to microgrid project developers and commercial / industrial end users who are planning a deployment or looking to optimize their current systems.  Radisson Hotel, Newport Beach

May 21 – Clean Technology Council presents “Will Your Next Car run on Electricity or Natural Gas”  Steve Herbruck, CEO and B. Scott Farrenkopf, EVP of GoTek Energy will lead a conversation about existing piston engines, energy efficiency,  alternative power sources and dramatically improved designs.  Total Wine Conference Room, Thousand Oaks, 5:30 – 7:30 PM.

May 21 – 22 – The Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals hosts the 7th Annual LEAN Leadership Summit – an event that brings together a world-class group of speakers who openly share how they are leading the Lean System Thinking transformations in their organizations and people capability.  This conference attracts senior management from a large variety of industries with guests from all over the USA.  Keynote Speaker is Gary Convis, former COO, Bloom Energy; CEO, Dana Corp.; Managing Officer, Toyota Motor Corp and EVP Toyota Engineering & Manufacturing North America.  Kellogg West Conference Center and Hotel, Pomona

May 22 – The Technology Investor Forum is the evolution of VC in the OC, one of OCTANe’s most popular signature events. Given the expanding regional innovation economy, the Technology Investor Forum will deliver a broader investor base and showcase even more high-tech companies! What’s more, it will continue to be the largest investment, high growth, and innovation conference in Southern California. May 28 – 30 – The 2nd Annual California Energy Summit will provide the latest information on the opportunities and threats in California as policy-makers come together with utility, IPP, renewable energy, energy storage and DR executives to discuss the potential opportunities to solve resource adequacy problems. June 13 -15 – The 5th Annual Greenermind Summit is a one-of-a-kind gathering in the Bay Area for sustainability movers and shakers. June 15 – 18 – Cleantech 2014 is a multi-disciplinary and multi-sector conference addressing advancements in traditional technologies, emerging technologies and clean business practices applied towards a more sustainable future. The mission is to bring together the entire clean technology ecosystem to accelerate the flow of technologies from development to implementation. June 17 – 19 – The Golden State Water Summit will examine the consequences of drought as the “new normal.”  It’s vital that Californians redefine how we use water. New water-supply projects are needed to fix or alleviate shortages. Industry needs to find ways to conserve and reuse water wherever possible, while learning how to better allocate competing interests. All stakeholders will need to capitalize on today’s best thinking and leverage that knowledge into creating opportunities in water infrastructure development to meet California’s urgent water needs. June 19 – PortTech presents Spills Happen – a discussion on industry best practices for environmental disaster preparedness, response and recovery in and around the Port complex. Learn about new technologies and opportunities for entrepreneurs in this exciting space.
