Los Angeles Cleantech Calendar 2014 – November – December

Green LAVAWelcome to the November-December 2014 Cleantech Calendar of events of interest to entrepreneurs, start-up executives, investors, service professionals and community leaders around Southern California.  These are the events, conferences and programs that focus on clean energy, sustainable development, reducing environmental impacts and highlighting progress.  Check back periodically for updates.  The conference season is winding down but there are still some good events to attend in October like VERGE, the Ship Air Emissions Management Summit and the unique and wonderful STEAM Carnival.  And the last months of the year has the 2014 Cleantech Open Awards, CTC’s Open Mixer, CONNECT’s Innovative New Product Awards and AWEA Wind Energy symposium.

Oct 20 – 22 – The 6th Biennial Emerging Technologies (ET) Summit hosted by PG&E gathers more than 500 stakeholders in the energy efficiency and demand response emerging technologies sectors for a 2-day interactive conference to learn, ideate and debate the intersection of utility programs, technology, market drivers, customer engagement, policy and implementation in order to impact the advancement and adoption of emerging technologies.  Wyndham Parc 55, San Francisco

Oct 20 – 23 –  The 2014 Solar Power International, the solar industry’s comprehensive educational conference and product exhibition, is presented by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA), whose combined efforts have created world-class events. This event focuses solely on creating an environment that fosters the exchange of ideas, knowledge and expertise for furthering solar energy development in the United States. All conference proceeds support the expansion of the U.S. solar energy market through SEIA’s and SEPA’s year-round research and education activities, as well as SEIA’s advocacy efforts.  Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas

Oct 25 – 26 – A modern take on the traveling circus, STEAM Carnival is an entertainment showcase using high-tech amusement and project-based kits to inspire kids of all ages about science, technology, engineering, art and math. Attractions include a midway loaded with challenging games, interactive experiences, hands-on workshops, contests, prizes and artisanal carnival food. STEAM Carnival leverages kids’ passions for music, fashion, and games to expose them to STEAM disciplines.  Select student participants will have the opportunity to display projects through a variety of exhibitions including a wearable electronics fashion show and a junior arcade.  Two days of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math and fun.  CRAFTED at the Port of Los Angeles

Oct 27 – 29 – The 5th annual edition World Bio Markets is North America’s #1 bio-based markets congress looking at bio-based fuels and chemicals. With a new look format for this year featuring 2 tracks: WBM Fuels and WBM Chemicals. Leveraging industry partnerships to realize the opportunity in advanced biofuels and bio-based chemicals. Oct 27 – 30 – The Green Biz Group’s 2014 VERGE San Francisco is focused on how technology accelerates sustainability solutions across industries and sectors. The event brings together the world’s largest companies, technology innovators, and cities, creating a broad ecosystem of players to accelerate opportunities for business, the environment, and society. The program focuses on practical, scalable, solutions-oriented conversations through six program tracks: new energy systems, next-gen buildings, resilient cities, sustainable mobility, smarter supply chains, and the food-energy-water nexus. Oct 28 – 29 – The Industrial Environmental Association presents the Statewide Environmental Conference focused on environmental compliance. The conference is attended by over 400 people representing manufacturing, biotech, and high tech companies. The speakers and panelists include California legislators and regulators who are at the forefront of environmental policy at the State and National level. Hilton San Diego Resort

Oct 28 – 30 – The Ship Air Emissions Management Summit gathers all of the stakeholders – ship owners & operators, shipbuilders, the regulators, port authorities, shipping associations, equipment suppliers and others – to exchange information and strategize cost-effective, practical solutions for compliance, now and going forward. Nov 3 – 4 – Smart Cities is an Energy Central event established to educate utilities on the steps and paths to collaboratively develop smart cites in their region. At this event attendees will establish early relationships with key stakeholders; discover collaboration strategies that have been shown to increase smart cities project success; explore the current state of smart cities development through specific information sessions; take a deep dive into real world smart city project case studies with leaders of smart cities initiatives; learn how to add new revenue streams, save costs, and manage demand predictability through efficiency. Nov 11 – 12 – Seedstock’s 3rd Annual Sustainable Agriculture Innovation Conference in Los Angeles features a series of panels and breakout sessions in which presenters from local food policy experts and urban agriculture entrepreneurs to investors and thought leaders in the sustainable agriculture industry will explore new approaches to strengthen the marketplace for local food and foster the revitalization of urban areas by embracing innovation in sustainable agriculture. Nov 19 – The Canada-US Energy Innovation conference is an invitation only event convening thought leaders and decision makers to discuss energy innovation and Canada’s interconnected relationship with the United States. Canada is developing its vast and varied natural resources with a renewed interest in deploying sustainable innovation at scale to address key environmental concerns. The conference will highlight the deepening relationships between energy stakeholders and policy and technology innovators on both sides of the border, exploring models from Canada and California that facilitate improved environmental and economic performance of energy systems. Nov 19 – 20 – PRIME, EDF and the French consulate in San Francisco host the California France Forum on Energy Efficiency Technologies (CaFFEET) to foster technical and scientific collaborations on Energy Efficiency. For the last 3 years, this event has brought together over 150 experts from Universities, R&D centers, utilities, corporations and startups. CaFFEET’14 will address the topic of Smart Factory to demonstrate how smart solutions (sensors, software, data analytics…) add value to manufacturing productivity and industrial energy management.  Consulate of France, San Francisco

Dec 4 – The Most Innovative New Product Awards, CONNECT’s largest and most prestigious event, attracts more than 700 of the region’s top business leaders, researchers and capital providers. CONNECT continues its tradition of honoring San Diego’s celebrities of innovation along with the groundbreaking new products launched in the last year. Dec 8 – 10 – Greentech Media and the Solar Energy Industries Association presents the U.S. Solar Market Insight Conference.  Now in its 4th year, this conference is essential for anyone involved, or looking to get involved, in the U.S. solar industry.
