Green LAVAWelcome to the September, 2015 Cleantech Calendar of events of interest to entrepreneurs, start-up executives, investors, service professionals and community leaders around Southern California and beyond.  These are the events, conferences and programs that focus on clean energy, sustainable development, reducing environmental impacts and highlighting progress.  Check back periodically for updates.  The Women In Green Forum happens this week at the fabulous TreePeople campus in Beverly Hills and September has some great events: Global & Green LAVA Energy & Cleantech Future, PortTech’s Pitch, YPE’s Energy & Emissions at the Ports and the annual Solar Power International.

August 24 – 26 – The Fleet Technology Expo is for all fleet types that are looking for ways to improve operational efficiency.  Educational sessions include strategies on reducing fuel use and maintenance costs to optimizing fleet software and data to alternative-fuel adoption. With additional sessions focused on emerging technologies, a huge Ride & Drive Event and an Expo hall with the latest vehicles, equipment, software and other tools, Fleet Technology Expo provides attendees the means for smart and efficient fleet management.  Long Beach Convention Center

August 24 – 26 – The 7th Annual Asia Pacific Resilience Innovation Summits and Expo (APRISE2015) convenes business, technology and policy leadership across the global resilience pillars of energy, agriculture, water and security.  The joint Asia Pacific Clean Energy, Islands Innovation and Pacific Defense Energy events collaboratively seek out new solutions for the vanguard communities facing the impact of climate-change.  Hawai’i Convention Center, Honolulu

August 26 – The 6th Annual Women in Green Forum is the premier network and professional conference series for women in environmental careers, highlighting the leaders of the environmental movement and sustainability strategies of Mexico and the US.  The Forum brings together an international audience of women focused on environmental issues, including academic researchers, business experts, energy analysts, and technology developers. The WIGF will also appeal to regulatory agencies involved in developing the policies and legislation which will further the development and propagation of green technologies on our roads, in our homes and at our schools.  TreePeople Campus, Beverly Hills, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM

August 26 – 27 – The Santa Ynez Chumash Environmental Office conducts a Greening Facilities Workshop will provide ways to reduce the use of energy, water and toxic cleaning products, improve purchasing practices and decreasing GHG emissions.  Hotel Corque, Solvang

Sept 1 – 3 – Sustainable Chemicals & Plastics Adoption & Application Summit brings together consumer product brands, retailers, investors, strategists and chemical industries to examine the state of bio-based and sustainable chemicals and plastics industry.  Consumer demand for greener products compel retail, consumer brands, OEMs and government regulators to explore safer, bio alternatives to petrochemicals and chemicals of concern.   San Diego Marriott Del Mar

Sept 3 – Global LAVA and Green LAVA join to host Woodrow W Clark II, an expert and author on economics, renewable energy and sustainable communities, in a conversation about Energy Innovation and the Future of Clean Technologies.  Dr. Clark has published 11 books on economics, renewable technology and the environment.  Century City, 6:30 – 8:30 PM

Sept 10 – The LA Chapter of Young Professionals in Energy and the Association of Environmental Professionals present Energy & Emissions Technology at the Ports.  Join us for a thought leadership event with the Port of Long Beach, SoCalGas, and the Clean Air Coalition to showcase energy trends and emissions technologies being deployed at the San Pedro Bay Complex – which includes the Port of Los Angeles and the Port of Long Beach as well as surrounding areas. The discussion will focus on the various success stories of technologies being implemented to reduce emissions at the ports as well as the benefits of technology adaptation to the businesses, communities, and environment. Sept 13 – 16 – The National Association of State Energy Officials (NASEO) Annual Meeting will explore states’ efforts to open new economic opportunities for businesses through smart state energy policies and programs that help to integrate intelligent energy efficiency, distributed generation, and the benefits of cloud computing. Sept 14 – 17 – The largest solar trade show in North America, Solar Power International  attracts over 15,000 solar energy professionals from over 75 countries.  Presented by the Solar Energy Industries Association and the Solar Electric Power Association this event focuses solely on creating an environment that fosters the exchange of ideas, knowledge and expertise for furthering solar energy development in the United States.  Anaheim Convention Center

Sept 19 – SDG&E, Cleantech San Diego and the Center for Sustainable Energy present the 3rd annual Electric Vehicle Day – San Diego. Experience the excitement of driving electric and see why so many San Diego residents are making the switch to electric vehicles (EVs). Already own an EV? Sept 22 – 23 – Cleantech Group will be hosting The Water Innovation Summit for the 4th time, this year focuse on the California drought and opportunities for the water innovation community.  During our day-and-a-half Summit, we will look at sectors such as agriculture, utilities, and energy from a customer-centric view through workshop-style discussions, and explore cross-cutting themes like financing mechanisms for water innovation and improving water management and measurement tools across sectors.  Claremont Hotel Club & Spa, Berkeley

Sept 23 – The Clean Technology Council presents Meeting the Information Security Management Challenge in the Cyber-Age featuring Dr. Stan Stahl, President of Citadel Information Group.  Cybercrime costs businesses and non-profits billions of dollars annually in theft, fraud, embezzlement and other losses.  Federal and State Laws – like HIPAA and no less than 48 state’s breach disclosure laws – are imposing an increasing management burden on organizations while imposing millions of dollars in fines for non-compliance.  Total Wine Conference Center, Thousand Oaks, 5:30 – 7:30 PM.

Sept 23 – 24 – EUCI presents Demand Response – The Next Generation conference that will help utilities and regulators understand the emerging ‘next generation’ of demand response and its role in the smart grid revolution and transforming utility business model. It will focus on how utilities can get the full benefit of DR and energy efficiency (EE) programs across time and resources, and offer best practices for design and implementation of these programs to work in conjunction with the changing grid.  Hyatt Regency Sacramento

Sept 25 – 27 – More than 20,000 attendees expected for the 5th Los Angeles Green Festival.  With one of the strongest waste recycling programs and a strong commitment to developing alternative transportation and energy initiatives, we look forward to growing with this green city. Through EnvironmentLA, the city offers a Green Business Certification in addition to establishing programs and projects to make Los Angeles a more environmentally-friendly city. In the last 10 years alone, the City of Los Angeles has planted over 28,000 trees and each year it diverts 5.8 million tons of trash for reuse/recycling.  Los Angeles Convention Center

Sept 28 – 30  The 7th Annual Transmission Summit West will once again provide the clearest window into the policy, regulatory and changing operational realities facing the industry and the business strategies leading utility and independent transmission executives will pursue to ensure operational reliability and seize development opportunities.  The Summit is focused on the business issues driving the electric transmission sector.  The Westgate Hotel, San Diego

Sept 29 – 30 – CaFFEET (The California France Forum on Energy Efficiency Technologies) is an annual event held over 2 days organized by EDF, The Office for Science and Technology at the Embassy of France in the United States, PRIME and the French Tech Hub. It’s aim is to promote the exchange of technical and scientific knowledge in the field of energy efficiency between France and California, two major low-carbon economies. Each year, CaFFEET gathers more then 200 experts from academic world, research centers, organizations, institutions, utilities and startups.  The Village, San Francisco

Sept 30 – Oct 1 – 2015 Southern California Energy + Water Summit forges new connections with over 600 public and private sector leaders from throughout Southern California united together to foster clean energy opportunities, identify long-range water solutions and build a sustainable region.  EWS2015 will bring together a blend of interactive educational sessions, keynote presentations and panel discussions from a wide array of experts.  Palm Springs Convention Center
