Los Angeles Cleantech Calendar 2015 – November and December

Green LAVAWelcome to the November-December, 2015 Cleantech Calendar of events of interest to entrepreneurs, start-up executives, investors, service professionals and community leaders around Southern California and beyond. These are the events, conferences and programs that focus on clean energy, sustainable development, reducing environmental impacts and highlighting progress. Check back periodically for updates. As the local conference season winds down we still see some great events.  October still has Verge 2015 and the Green California Schools & Community Colleges Summit.  November brings two great funding events (Metropole’s Global Alternative Funding Forum and the inaugural NextGen Crowdfunding Conference), Solar & Storage and the Connected City Summit companion event to LA Auto Show.  December leads off with the Leadership Conference for Women in Energy and finishes with the LAVA Holiday Party.  A fitting conclusion to a great year of events, conferences and symposia.

Oct 26 – 29 – Accelerating sustainability solutions in an interconnected world – GreenBiz Group’s VERGE 2015 focuses on the technologies and systems that accelerate sustainability solutions across sectors in a climate-constrained world.  The event focuses on transformative but practical, scalable, solutions-oriented exchanges through six program tracks: distributed energy systems, next-gen buildings, resilient cities, sustainable mobility, smarter supply chains, and food and water systems.  Fairmont Hotel, San Jose

Oct 27 – Women in LAVA “PITCH PITCH AND AWAY” Working Sessions. LAVA. Every entrepreneur needs a polished pitch deck to present to investors and an elevator pitch that rolls off their tongues at networking events. We want to help get yours to perfection. This year we will be hosting a series of working sessions for women entrepreneurs to develop their pitch presentation, practice the pitch, and get invaluable feedback from mentors and colleagues.  Santa Monica Place/Expert Dojo, 6:00  – 8:00 PM

Oct 29 – 30 – The 2015 Green California Schools & Community Colleges Summit is the largest annual event focused on green programs in the nation’s largest K-12 system and higher education systems. With the theme “Achieving the Benefits of High Performance Schools,” the Summit will highlight the economic, educational and community benefits that districts have achieved by making a commitment to sustainability.  Pasadena Convention Center

Nov 2 – 4 – Returning for its fifth year, the US Solar Market Insight conference is essential for anyone involved, or looking to get involved, in the U.S. solar industry. Nov 5 – 6 – Since 2008, the Renewable Energy Finance Forum brings a focus on renewable energy development in the western United States.  REFF-West will highlight financing trends in renewable power, energy storage, system integration, and transportation; review important developments in Western power market expansion and in the role of the emerging corporate customer market segment; and discuss renewable energy’s role in smarter resource use and response to the Western water crisis. Nov 7 – Women in Cleantech and Sustainability hosts the 2nd annual WCS Talks event featuring the brightest minds and most inspiring stories of the clean economy metamorphosis occurring all over the world on an annual basis. Nov 11 – the Clean Technology Council presents Protecting Your Family from Scams and Cyber Crimes with Ventura County Sheriff Detective Timothy Lohman.  Detective Lohman shares insights from his 21 years of experience in law enforcement, forgery and fraud investigation.  The public is accustomed to sharing precious personal information and needs to understand what actions put them at risk. Nov 16 – 17 – California is building the country’s largest electricity system aimed at drawing over 50% of its energy supplies from clean, distributed energy resources in the next decade. The Distributed Energy Future conference will outline the technology innovation, planning, data collection and business opportunities moving in California to allow clean energy sources to compete with traditional energy sources. Nov 16 – 18 – Infocast’s Distributed Solar Summit 2015 brings together solar project developers, integrators, investors, lenders, panel suppliers, utilities, regulators, contractors, installers and other industry players to explore the impacts of the latest financial innovations, which sales channel strategies and business models will lead to success, and ultimately how to help move the distributed solar sector forward nationwide. Nov 18 – 19 – Solar & Storage will bring together solar developers with battery vendors and storage systems integrators to examine the opportunities, economics, business cases and technologies in combining storage with grid-connected, commercial & industrial and consumer solar PV systems. It will explore the application of mobile and stationary battery technologies, software control suites, microgrids, smart inverters and other technologies to deliver economically viable systems. Nov 17 – 19 – The annual Cleantech Open Global Forum celebrates the graduation of a new cohort of entrepreneurs solving the world’s energy, environmental and economic challenges. Join an influential and innovative group of entrepreneurs, investors, corporations and Cleantech Open finalists from around the world to showcase the acceleration of clean technologies and celebrate the graduation of a new cohort of entrepreneurs.  Judging Day selects the best from among US regional finalists and the 6 countries participating in the Global Cleantech Innovation Program.  Entrepreneur day is open to the public to meet the innovators and investors and the event culminates on the final day with an Expo, Awards and Gala dinner.  Three events, 2 venues – GSVLabs Redwood City and Herbst Theater, San Francisco

Nov 19 – The inaugural NextGen Crowdfunding Conference explores the ways everyday investors find and fund emerging businesses and startups.  Top industry leaders will discuss new forms of crowdfunding and the benefits for and impacts on entry level investors, venture capitalists and startups from Silicon Beach to Silicon Valley.  The conference is cosponsored by the Crowdfunding Professional Association (CfPA) the industry leading crowdfunding association. Nov 19 – Green LAVA presents SoCal Performance Edge a US Department of Energy funded initiative, led by the LA Better Buildings Challenge and LACI, to accelerate smart investments in next-generation building technologies, leveraging DOE research to identify market-ready, best-in-class solutions and match them with property owners committed to innovation. Technologies promoted through So Cal Performance Edge program meet the Department Of Energy’s performance specifications, and have been vetted by third party experts. Nov 20 – The Connected City Summit half-day event assembles thought leaders from the automotive, technology and government sectors to address the issues that will enable the car to transform from an individual object to part of a broader network.
