Los Angeles Cleantech Calendar 2016 – March

Green LAVAWelcome to the March, 2016, Cleantech Calendar of events of interest to entrepreneurs, start-up executives, investors, service professionals and community leaders around Southern California and beyond. These are the events, conferences and programs that focus on clean energy, sustainable development, reducing environmental impacts and highlighting progress. Check back periodically for updates.  The highlights this month include CTC’s event on converting CO2 into Useful Products; the PortTech EXPO, the largest martime oriented cleantech event on the West Coast; and, the Microgrid Global Summit at UCI.

March 1 – 2 – The 4th annual Venture Summit West, presented by youngStartup Ventures, is the premier industry gathering connecting venture capitalists, corporate VCs, angel investors, technology transfer professionals, senior executives of early stage and emerging growth companies, university researchers, incubators and premier service providers. March 8 – 10 – The annual Climate Leadership Conference convenes a global audience of climate, energy, and sustainability professionals to address climate change through policy, innovation, and business solutions. Now in its fifth year, the 2016 event will host the first U.S. climate conference post-Paris to further accelerate climate solutions and a low-carbon economy.  Sheraton Seattle Hotel, Seattle WA

March 9 – 11 – 9th Annual Renewable Energy & Water Summit hosted by the Imperial Valley Economic Development Corporation (IVEDC). The IV is home to more than 2,000 megawatts of geothermal, solar and wind energy developments with potential of 25,000 MW of renewable energy.  As California pushes for an increased Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS) of 33% by 2020 to 50% by 2030, Imperial Valley continues to be positioned to be a major contributor in helping the state achieve its RPS goals. March 9 – 13 – Natural Products Expo West/Engredea is projected to be the largest in its 36-year history. The sold out trade-only event will play host to more than 3,000 companies and 70,000 attendees. The natural products industry is experiencing growth of 9% per year, driven in part by new and emerging brands. March 10 – The 6th annual PortTechEXPO brings together innovators and entrepreneurs; port and transportation executives; investors, sponsors and service providers; and academic, corporate and civic leaders for global networking opportunities. March 13 – 15 – The California Section of the WateReuse Association will convene its 2016 Annual Conference designed for individuals, organizations, and agencies that are associated with or interested in the design, management, operation, and use of water recycling facilities and projects in California.  Conference attendees include water recycling leaders, public agency representatives, elected officials, customers, developers, consultants, teachers, operators, environmental groups, students, manufacturer representatives and other individuals interested in engaging in the dialog about water recycling. topics covered will include recycled water planning, operational issues, regulatory issues, financial considerations, and environmental benefits. Hyatt Vineyard Creek Hotel & Spa in Santa Rosa, CA

March 16 – The Clean Technology Council presents: “Turning Carbon Dioxide in Air & Emissions into Useful Products.” Joel Balbien, CFA, Ph.D, Managing Director, GreenTech Consulting reviews new processes that convert waste carbon dioxide (CO2) from fermentation plants, fossil fuels, and the air into useful products. March 22 – 24 – UCI hosts the Microgrid Global Summit, one of two pillars in the ICEPAG (International Colloquium on Environmentally Preferred Advanced Generation).  The Summit draws together experts from industry, government, and academia from around the world to examine these issues and share critical, cutting edge information about real-world, on-the-ground Microgrid deployments that are pushing the envelope of energy reliability, quality, and accessibility.  UCI, Samueli School of Engineering

March 22 – 24 – Infocast presents the Solar Power Executive Briefing and Solar Power Finance & Investment Summit; the leading gathering place for the industry’s deal makers.
